Role
Take technical ownership of complex Civil, Structural & Architectural engineering activities, ensuring safe, compliant and fit-for-purpose delivery throughout the project lifecycle.
Our Client has a requirement for a CS&A Responsible Engineer, who will be required to work on a staff or contract basis in Warrington.
Role Purpose:
- Hold full technical accountability for Civil, Structural & Architectural (CS&A) engineering within an assigned area.
- Ensure all engineering activities are delivered safely, compliantly and fit for purpose throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical leadership, governance and assurance across engineering activities.
- Retain responsibility for key engineering decisions, including those undertaken through delegated authority.
- Support the successful delivery of engineering solutions within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment.
Job Role Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and direction for CS&A engineering activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, engineering standards and safety requirements.
- Establish and maintain governance, assurance and verification processes.
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and support the resolution of complex technical issues.
- Interface with project teams, regulators and assurance bodies to support successful project delivery.
- Promote and maintain a strong culture of safety, quality and compliance.
- Provide technical oversight across all stages of project delivery, from concept through to commissioning.
- Manage engineering deviations, non-conformances and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure engineering outputs are delivered in accordance with gated processes and governance requirements.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
- Strong CS&A engineering background within regulated and safety-critical environments.
- Proven experience with technical accountability and engineering decision-making responsibilities.
- Experience ensuring compliance with engineering, legislative and safety requirements.
- Demonstrable experience establishing governance, assurance and verification processes.
- Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience interfacing with project teams, regulators and assurance organisations.
- Familiarity with engineering governance frameworks and gated project delivery processes.
- Knowledge of planning activities, site master planning and stakeholder engagement is desirable.
- Experience relating to contaminated land, utilities and ground investigations is desirable.
- Understanding of seismic design and heavy industrial or plant-room environments is desirable.
- Experience within the nuclear sector or other high-hazard industries is desirable.
- Knowledge of safety case development and regulatory engagement is desirable.
- Experience delivering projects through the full lifecycle, from concept development through to commissioning.
- Experience managing engineering deviations, non-conformances and improvement initiatives.
- SQEP aligned with SR0698 and ED21 standards.
- Degree (or equivalent) in Civil, Structural & Architectural Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Extensive CS&A experience suitable for undertaking the responsibilities of a Responsible Engineer.
- Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) with a recognised professional institution.
- Fellowship or senior membership of a recognised professional institution.
- Training in nuclear safety, functional safety or systems engineering.
- Postgraduate qualification in engineering or management.
Additional Information:
- Due to the nature of the work, applicants will need to meet residency requirements for UK Security Clearance.
- Security Clearance is required for this position and candidates must be sole British nationals.
- Eligibility for certain duties may be subject to security and export control restrictions associated with the work being undertaken.
